Matthew Plocharczyk

Matthew has had a lifelong interest in film and photography which has translated into pursuits such as painting, design, architecture and engineering. In the early nineteen-eighties, he moved to New York City to attend New York University. For the following eleven years, he was one of several studio assistants to the innovative geometric abstract artists Frank Stella and Earl W. Childress III at the Stella Studio on East Thirteenth Street in New York City.

While living in Williamsburg Brooklyn during the nineteen-nineties, he worked with several international artists and designers on projects ranging from exhibitions, installations, textiles, furniture and architectural design.

He has also supported the studios of the next generation abstract expressionist painters Jim and Ann Walsh from New York City. Their influence is seen in his application of color and in his philosophies on art and design.

His work is meant to provide a meaningful reflection on the relevance of humanism in art, design and life.
